LAKELAND 44 MENS SHEARLING SHEEPSKIN
I would recommend this coat for a size US mens 42 suit coat (44 fitted, 40 loose).
Length (cuff to hem) – 38
Shoulder (shoulder seam-to-shoulder seam) – 20
Chest (armpit-to-armpit) – 24
Arm – (top of seam to cuff) – 25.5
This is a VINTAGE trench, pea coat style shearling (sheepskin). It looks to be from the 1970s and has been worn, judging from the suede (exterior). Considering this coat is probably more than 3 decades old, it is in amazing condition. That is a testament to the quality construction of the past, and the durability of a well-made shearling.
This coat looks like it could easily last another 3 decades (and if you don’t wear it, probably longer than any of us will be around).
The fur (interior) looks great. The fur is soft and feels very smooth against the skin. The color of the fur is intact and looks to be in almost-new condition.
There are no holes, rips, loose stitching, thin spots, balding, nor matting of the fur. There are no stretch marks or deep wrinkles that tend to occur with vintage coats.
You may want to do a cleaning of the suede (either with a suede brush and an eraser or professionally) since it is a vintage coat. But, I will leave that to the one fortunate enough to buy this shearling.
Overall, I would give this a 8.5 (subtract 1.5 for cleaning) out of 10 for a vintage coat.
If you’re looking for a WINTER coat (you won’t, or shouldn’t, be wearing this above 40°F or 5°C), LAKELAND knew how to make them!
